Catfish Pond(s)
Several days ago we stocked 100 channel catfish in our pond .... BUT I do not possess any knowledge of maintaining a catfish pond except to feed them with floating catfish food several times per week once the ambient air temperature is above 60+ degrees .....
Any help in catfish food alternatives and pond maintenance will be much appreciated! BB |
Re: Catfish Pond(s)
Care to describe the pond, and the climate?

Re: Catfish Pond(s)
catfish like bugs and the cheapest bugs i can think of are baby flies ... AKA Maggots.
if it was me i'd position some trays of plywood with food scraps on the edge of the pond & let mother nature do the rest. as soon as you have a huge horrible mess of squirming maggots, rake them into the pond. the catfish will have a catfish feeding frenzy. this is something i have not experimented with ... given that i live in a second floor apartment and want to get my rent deposit back. :36_1_63: |

Ah, ponds are so-o-o good. Fish ponds are even better.
"Fishponds, loko i'a, were things that beautified the land, and a land with many fishponds was called a 'fat' land ('ina momona)." |
